What is CBD?

CBD is the acronym for Cannabidiol, one of about 100 cannabinoids that have been identified in the cannabis plant. It is a non-psychoactive compound that interacts with the human body via our Endocannabinoid System (ECS). Rather than providing a “high”or some other overwhelming sensation, CBD works to reestablish balance in a range of bodily systems. A good summary for CBD is to think of it as a supplement that works to find and maintain homeostasis, or a state of biological balance.

Why use CBD?

CBD is a major topic of interest and research for scientists globally, and there is very promising information that it may support healthy lifestyle. According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.”

What is the difference between CBD and THC?

Both CBD and THC plants are molecules found in the cannabis plant. The main difference between the two lies in the proportion of CBD to THC. THC is the main psychoactive compound in marijuana; the compound famous for giving the high effect. Hemp plants contain more CBD than marijuana plants, and they are bred to contain less than 0.3% THC.
